Healing Hands Resource Center (HHRC) is a 501(c3) recognized not-for-profit organization located in Chicago’s North Lawndale community, Joliet and Zion, IL.
Though HHRC began as the community outreach wing of Healing Hands Medical Center, it has since evolved into a full service independent agency.
We offer Integrated Health Services, Tele-Presense services such as Tele-Health and Tele-Education. We also provide services for Allied Health Career Training, Parent and Child Learning Advocacy. HHRC is deeply committed to public health initiatives including Healthy People 2020, community health fairs, health and educational seminars, and health screenings.
In 2005, HHRC established a free Saturday morning tutoring program in North Lawndale, Chicago, Illinois. In addition to providing tutoring to students with learning disabilities, this program assisted students in gaining admission to competitive high schools and post secondary programs. Responding to the needs of numerous parents and family members in our program, in 2006 we began a support group for individuals with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and Bipolar Affective Disorder. These support groups led to the development of the Parent Child Advocacy Program.
In 2008, HHRC created and directed an HIV/AIDS education and prevention initiative in the North Lawndale and surrounding communities. These community involvements led to the development of mental health services, followed by the development of integrated health services.
In July of 2011, HHRC partnered with St Agatha Parish in North Lawndale, Chicago, Illinois, to begin the Safe Place Clinic Program. The Safe Place Clinic Program provides integrated primary care, mental health and addictions treatment for individuals in the Chicago land area.
Our program has been so successful that we attract people from as far as Kankakee, Illinois. Although we are highly appreciative of the commitment of our participants we understand the tremendous burden of 120 mile round trip visit, which is why we partnered with the Sacred Heart Parish of Joliet, Illinois and opened a Safe Place Clinic on its campus. Presently, we have downstate locations in Princeton and Streator, IL.
We see patients in both clinics through Tele-Presence. In service of our mission we are partnering with other faith-based organizations to establish future Safe Place Clinics in other under served areas. Thanks to technology and caring staff we are able to provide superior health care.
Thank you for your interest in knowing more about our organization.
